Hello!
My name is Shawn Soucie, and I have created Pine Tree Angler. I created Pine Tree Angler because I feel there are a lot of people like me out on the water who chase not one but all of Maine's many species of fish. I wanted to make a brand not only for my guiding service but also that represents the average angler and that has no major agenda other than creating a fishing community that loves the sport. Fly fishing has become a trend that people do and only care about how they look on social media. You will see that this is not the case when you look at my social media. Yes, the goal is to always go out and catch fish, but reality is is doesn't always happen, and that is more than ok!
So who am I? Well, I'm glad you asked. I have had the privilege of throwing a fly rod since about the time I could stand. My father taught me in the yard with an L.L. Bean Quest fly rod. I remember being at the house while dad was away on a fishing trip and just fantasizing about what those fishing trips must be like. As I grew up, it became my time. Obviously, fly fishing is not something someone knows everything about, so I had some learning to do. I began going on every trip I could, and most of the time, my dad's best friend, and basically my second father, was teaching me, or when times were tough, hooking the fish, then handing me the rod to reel in. From the first Landlock Salmon I was hooked for life.
I am now an adult, while still acting like a child at times, and what I have come to realize is that there is almost no better feeling than helping someone reel in one of the best fish they've caught. This has always been a goal of mine when I fish with good people or around good people. When I talk to people on the river having a tough day, I am the first to hand out some flies or tell them where to go when I've had luck. This mindset comes back to the belief that this sport is not a competition, but it's a hobby that many people want to enjoy and have some success at.
I now live in the northwestern part of the state along a terrific stretch of the Kennebec River. This has led to the creation of Pine Tree Angler. As I mentioned, Pine Tree Angler is my guide business because I want to take the skills I have developed and combine them with those of other anglers to have some of the most memorable days on the water that they might ever have! Obviously, this comes with its own expenses, and that is why I decided to sell some apparel to help get me on my feet with this service. Not to mention every angler in the state can be part of the Pine Tree Angler community, as we are all here for the same reason. So please keep an eye out for me on the river, lake, ocean, stream, or any other body of water. I hope to see some shirts out there in the wild, and remember you are in the wild for a reason. That reason is not social media.
I offer guided trips throughout the state. Please give me a call to set up your trip!!
Until then, fish often and enjoy the moment. As a good friend once said, "You're dead for a long time."
Go Now, Run Hard, Fish Often
Sincerely,
Shawn Soucie
